Training and Qualifications

We operate a comprehensive training programme with agreed training and development plans in place. Training is essential for the future of our industry. Both in terms of Health and Safety and Skills. UK Timber Structures investment in training has developed the workforce to serve our clients at all levels.

The main areas of training are in the following categories:

CITB: CSCS Cards, Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), Site Supervisors Safety Training, Scheme (SSSTS), CPCS Slinger Signaller (A40), CPCS Crane / Lifting Operations Supervisor (A62), CPCS Appointed Persons – Lift Operations (A61) First Aid, Working at Height, Harnesses, Pasma, IPAF, NVQs in Carpentry and Timber Frame Erecting.

Qualifying Our Workforce:

To remain at the forefront of the Timber Frame Construction Industry, we have invested in our workforce to ensure they have the right skills and knowledge to carry out their work safely and effectively.

We have appointed an independent training consultant to analyse our training requirements and develop a training plan that meets the standards of the Main Contractor Group and the UK Timber Frame Association. As a minimum, all our timber frame erectors, 1st and 2nd fix carpenters have the appropriate skilled CSCS Cards and an NVQ Level 2 qualification.

Other Training Qualifications

All lift plans will be delivered meeting the requirements of LOLER and developed by our trained and competent CPCS Appointed Person. Site erecting teams will consist of trained and competent CPCS Lift Supervisors and Slinger Signallers. All teams will be allocated a Supervisor who has the skills, knowledge and expertise to oversee all works on site to ensure the site teams comply with the company Health & Safety Policy, legislation and site rules at all times. Supervisors will also be trained to CITB Site Safety Plus level.
